Whether this is your first or fifth holiday flying solo, I'm here to tell you that despite the horror stories, you can be single and still have fun during the holidays. Here are some Holiday Survival Tips for singles. that just may help keep you out of the holiday dull drums and help set a positive tone for the new year.
1. Don't Fear the Plus One - You may have received invitations to various holiday events, but you're hesitant to attend because you don't have a special someone to fill the "Plus One" spot. Don't hesitate, seize the day! I guarantee you won't the only person that comes alone, besides, you might just find a "Plus One" once you get there.
2. Use This Time To Pamper Yourself - Holidays offer the perfect occasionto slow life down a bit and take time for yourself. "Me time" isn't just for the ladies anymore. Now is the perfect opportunity to treat yourself. Get dressed up and take yourself to that restaurant that you've wanted to go to, make it an event. If you're book worm, such as myself, pull out that novel that you've been dying to delve into, but never seem to have the time.
3. Spend Time With Family - If you happen to be a single parent, you know how difficult it can be to have quality time with your children. You can make the holidays an exciting time for them as well as for yourself. Plan something special for the evenings. Activities as simple as baking your favorite cookies, enjoying a holiday flick, or decorating your tree together can be a fabulous way to spend the holidays.4. Plan A Get Together Of Your Own - You don't have to wait for an invite. Host a small holiday gathering yourself. Invite friends, family, even a few co-workers. Nothing too audacious, something simple. The main idea is to spend an easy evening of laughter and conversation over deliciously comforting holiday fare. This can also be the perfect venue for you to invite that "certain someone" that you've had your eye on but didn't quite know how to break the ice.
Before you know it the holidays will be over and you will have survived. The time you spend will only be as good as you choose to make it. Empower yourself, most of all believe in yourself. "Everything is a gift of the universe--even joy, anger, jealousy, frustration, or separateness. Everything is perfect either for our growth or our enjoyment." Ken Keyes Jr. I do believe that there's someone out there for everyone, black love is alive, relevant and most of all real!
